Comedy for a Cause — May 30th 2019

This was the first-time-ever, one-of-a-kind stand-up comedy extravaganza featuring award-winning comedian DJ Demers of America’s Got Talent, Conan, and Just For Laughs fame. It was hosted by actor, humorist, and disability-rights activist Gael Hannan, and featured local talents Jon Selig, Serag Meletian, and CHIP’s own Abby Stonehouse.

This event was fully accessible to people with low mobility, vision, and/or hearing, and all proceeds went towards scholarships and bursaries supporting accessibility. Accessibility measures included closed captioning, FM system, T-Loop, full wheelchair access, and sighted guides for people with low vision. ASL interpretation and braille (paper) tickets were also available upon request.

Hear Entendre Québec presented Comedy for a Cause: Accessible Comedy for All in conjunction with the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA)’s National Educational Conference and Trade Show, and coincided with the Government of Canada’s third annual National AccessAbility Week.
