What is special about this program is that it allows Hear Québec members to use the skills and expertise they have gained through their own experience with hearing loss to be a positive and impactful role model for others.
Become a Mentor
A great peer mentor is someone who has accepted their hearing loss. They are able to discuss their hearing loss needs with friends, family or wherever it may be necessary to ensure their ability to hear and be heard.
As a mentor you will support your mentee through their hearing loss journey. You will use your experience of living with hearing-loss to help a mentee navigate theirs.
This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for those looking to give back to the hearing loss community. Not only will you be a supportive role model, but you will also learn new skills through the training program offered.

Become a Mentee
This is an opportunity for members who are newly diagnosed or not yet confident with their hearing loss to obtain one-on-one support from someone who has lived this experience. This support could include setting communication goals and objectives, or having a knowledgeable companion with you at audiologist and acoustician appointments.
Your mentor will help you to understand the process and pathways involved, and will be there for you if there are social or emotional challenges faced due to hearing loss.
